– without needing special decks or lookup tables or anything like that. If you love the concept, you’ll love the execution here. Mansions of Madness: I have 3 plays so far. It’s as fun with 2 players as it is with 5, and it’s got pounds and pounds of flavor. Haven’t played Arkham Horror so I can’t say anything there. May I suggest you take a look at Cthulhu:Death May die. Come discuss games like Codenames, Arkham Horror, Terra Mystica, and all your other favorite games! I’ve enjoyed both. Perhaps in unimaginable monster ready to use its razor-sharp claws. I've played one scenario twice and I'd still be willing to play it again. Might play it before New year's Eve strikes ;). AH3 is a good game for when you want something to play that’s a “normal” board game length and you’ve got other Cthulhu loving friends around. A Game of Thrones: Mother of Dragons #UpliftAndrew, Complete Listing (temporarily unavailable). We've definitely been enjoying our time with MoM, but after 4 or 5 scenarios through the app I've been really wishing FFG would've included a scenario creator or workshop capabilities. I can’t confirm that at this point, but it’s what I’ve heard. I love them for different reasons. Maybe those people and the audience for this game don’t really overlap anyway, but in case they do; rest easy, friends. Join our community! It’s all a little creepy, sometimes terrifying, and always exciting. Over the course of the game, players will explore the mansion, revealing new tiles, plot developments, characters, and items. I was wowed by it at first, but after it hit the table a few times it's been a shelf weight. The biggest downside is that these scenarios are mostly pre-determined. A Scenario builder so people can create their own stories. I felt like I couldn't justify paying 129CAD for a game like that. (but I do often play spirit island with 3 spirits, so maybe I'm more used to managing lots of hands.) Easily Mansions of Madness. (Plus it’s cheaper). We felt like AH was very fiddly with a lot of upkeep every round, whereas the app takes care of that in MOM. While Mansions of Madness always looked interesting, I never got into it because I’d heard how fiddly and cumbersome it was, not to mention the requirement that one player plays as the “Keeper” trying to manage all the behind-the-scenes stuff. iSlaytheDragon would like to thank Asmodee and Fantasy Flight Games for providing a review copy of Mansions of Madness, 2nd Edition. • Around the corner, what will you find? Along the way they’ll get hurt or mentally scarred, possibly even becoming permanently wounded or going insane. I have been looking at it and it does look good. Whichever role you play, you’re in over your head, but the fun is in exploration and discovery. Also, I personally play board games to get away from screens, so I don't love the fact that it needs an app. Either way, you’ll definitely have fun!!! Futurewolfie loves epic games, space, and epic games set in space. It’s crazy and bizarre and brilliant to have no idea how you are even supposed to win, and then have the picture slowly build as you play. They’ll search drawers, converse with NPCs, solve puzzles, fight monsters, and roll lots of dice. The app can keep track of things going on outside your purview as well. Monsters can wreak havoc. If you think you might play solo more, I’d go with MoM. Looking forward to more and highly recommend. My wife and I just recently purchased Mansions of Madness and LOVE it, but are more familiar with Last Night on Earth and A Touch of Evil, both of which are greatly supported by custom scenarios. I have not found that to be the case at all. The excitement begins the moment you set up the game. I wish there were more scenarios in the box, but I have to admit there’s a lot of content to go through. The game presents one of several dynamic story-driven scenarios. As for AH3, I have played the first scenario 4-5 times and I still enjoy it, so replayability is definitely there for me. They’re both fantastic games! We always have trouble figuring out who is who, and it’s not always easy to find your character on the board at a glance.
