Aidan Turner (The Hobbit) stars as Ross Poldark, a redcoat who returns to Cornwall after the American Revolutionary War to discover that his father is dead, his lands are ruined, and his true love is about to marry his first cousin. Anyway, from the writing by Anne Dudley, to the wonderful music, the gorgeous scenery and most of all, the superb acting which makes us fall in love with, or as the case may be, seriously desire to strangle, the characters, this series is simply outstanding.
