Another one of those “wow” moments that both delights and intrigues as to its later efforts, a feeling The Pedestrian almost always finds the means to repeat all over again. But of course the mechanics of its puzzles — and the gameplay tools provided to the player — are where the real joys and eventual triumphs are housed most visibly.

If it sounds like a lot to consider — especially in the span of one mere puzzle, for a lot of the scenarios — it usually is. An aspiration easily ignored for The Pedestrian is a charming-enough, but crucially, surprisingly-inventive puzzle entry for a concept and premise that, on paper, sounds far from inviting. Now, you don’t have long to wait.

The beautiful world that transitions in the background after you complete a puzzle is very refreshing. But I had seen the game a few times and had wanted to play it myself. Super neat game!

Nota problem! The ability to hop between panels without any need for a link or bridging between panels in one instance; a mechanic that prevents certainly-selected elements from resetting.

There are three more major mechanics that are introduced later in the game.

In taking control of a human figure (either with or without a dress) your adventure in The Pedestrian is mostly confined to various street signs, blueprints, and other 2D surfaces. Another major criticism that similarly isn’t hard to spot (and is by no means easy to ignore) is the quality of select textures and models. Even the way the options screen is viewed through a dramatic cut to one of the many, in-world CRT televisions dotted about. The player traverses from sign to sign not only laterally but also in depth. When your grandchildren ask you,"Papa Backer, why do we keep playing this old game?"

I know I'm like a year late to this one. The graphics are incredible too. Can you even call a digital book a book.

Regardless of how high the resolution of your screen is during play, The Pedestrian has an odd way to rendering certain objects and effects on occasion — disappointing as it is that a gameplay loop so strongly built is met with a lack of equal care in the visual department. The demo itself is quite simple but you can really get a feel for what kind of puzzles are possible with the formula. I noticed your game on my recommended list on itch.io and I'm really interested in your game. But we have an irrational fear of birds, so please stop feeding them worms.
